What is vehicle registration (refrendo)
Refrendo is an annual payment associated with vehicle registration and document validity in Nuevo León. The Nuevo León Vehicle Control Institute (ICVNL) determines the account status, amounts, and applicable dates.
When to pay
Do not rely on plate-ending schedules unless they are supported by a current official source. Dates, benefits, and surcharges may change. Always review your account on the official ICVNL portal before paying.
How to check your registration
Regio Placas helps you organize your vehicles and open the official lookup:
- Download the app
- Enter your plate number
- Open the official ICVNL portal and confirm amounts and dates there
Automatic registration-debt and fine lookups are unavailable in the app. Regio Placas does not retrieve or display old results from that lookup and does not replace the official ICVNL account statement.
What happens if I don't pay
ICVNL determines applicable surcharges and consequences. Verify your case directly with that authority; do not make a legal or payment decision solely from a result shown in the app.
