What is vehicle inspection?
Vehicle inspection (verificación vehicular) is a mandatory procedure in Nuevo León that certifies your vehicle meets permitted emission levels. This program is regulated by the state's Environmental Secretary.
When is my inspection due?
The inspection calendar is based on the last digit of your plate:
- Ending in 1 and 2: January — February
- Ending in 3 and 4: March — April
- Ending in 5 and 6: May — June
- Ending in 7 and 8: July — August
- Ending in 9 and 0: September — October
- Late period: November — December
Requirements for inspection
- Vehicle in working condition
- Valid circulation card
- Current registration (refrendo)
- Visit an authorized inspection center

The cost of vehicle inspection in Nuevo León ranges from $500 to $700 MXN depending on the vehicle type and inspection center.
What happens if I don't get inspected?
If you don't get inspected during your assigned period, you can do it during the late period but with an additional fine. Driving without current inspection can result in traffic violations.
